This is quite interesting; All of the courses which I have taught at the University level have included textbooks licensed under the Creative Commons which I wrote specifically for each class. Maybe the insanity created by this economy will prod them into doing something right for once. In any case I hope it passes before they realize what they are really doing.

Not all instructors have the time or the skill to write their own material. Do you have anything posted here? It could be very instructive.

The college I work at is resorting to "renting" textbooks to reduce costs this year. I can see where this might be beneficial in a few cases, but in many areas it just won't be practical. Engineering and CS texts, among others, just aren't disposable, and savings would evaporate quickly.
